The last weeks at English class we've worked on a project about our favorite city. My team chose New York City.
Thanks to the task I've learnt a lot about New York's history. For example that The city that never sleeps has been property of France, Netherlands and England, and the fact that in 1626 was sold for 24 dollars.
I've saw the characteristics of the different boroughs of the city, their own history and how people lives at each one of the sections of New York. It was my favourite part because I've read some books set in New York's boroughs and I really enjoyed to know a lot of facts about them.
To finish my work, I had to make a To-Do-List of the Big Apple and I discovered some places not as much recognized as The Statue of Liberty or as The Empire State. One of those points of interest is the Unisphere, an spherical structure made to represent and claim for world peace and relationships between nations.
I truly enjoyed to work about this city because it inspires me so much. One of the most important cities in the world, made from nothing and built by immigrants with a dream. It looks like the city o the successful people, but there are poor boroughs, a lot of violence and crimes and so much discriminated people.
I had already worked with Wiam, Marta and Lara, but I relished it like it was the first time. I appreciate them a lot and to make tasks with them is always funny and advantageous.
In conclusion, My Favourite City task was on of my favourites of all the year.
Here it is a short documentary about New York and its people talking about how is living there:
